Why Homoeopathy for Allergies and Chronic coughs?

Allergies and Chronic Coughs

Do you suffer from?

  • Runny nose, sneezing, coughing
  • Red swollen eyes
  • Sinusitis
  • Chesty cough

Homoeopathy is just right for you.

Be sure to start it as a preventative before the hay fever season and use a proven system that actually works.

I have used homoeopathy to treat Nirav (name changed), an 8 year old boy who came to me in July 2018. Nirav had a stubborn winter cough that started with a runny nose, followed by a lingering cough. The GP advised cough syrup and nasal spray. He was diagnosed with having asthma.

I examined Nirav homoeopathically. I considered the diagnosis of asthma as mentioned by the GP and was convinced that his symptoms were respiratory related. Nirav had a cough that started first thing in the morning after waking and lasted till breakfast. He was having trouble breathing. He complained that if he ran around and did a lot of exercise, he had shortness of breath.

I also learnt that Nirav was having difficulties in coping with friends in the yard at school and also had a short attention span. The cough wakes him at night with perspiration which is unusual for winter. His perspiration is so profuse that he needs to change his shirt. I prescribed a set of homoeopathic remedies, tried and tested. Nirav got better after his school holiday break. I asked the parents to continue with the medicines for a month. Nirav did not have to take inhalers, cough syrups or antibiotics. Recommended treatment is to give a homoeopathic constitutional on and off during winter period to build immunity.

I prescribed homoeopathic medicines on the basis of Nirav’s diagnosis, systemic and symptomatic picture. I took into consideration the symptoms that he presented, bearing in mind that a deeper acting medicine needed to be prescribed based on his constitution which would act as his preventative medicine.

I have had similar success with many of my clients who have reduced their dose of Zyrtec and antihistamines having kept up with homoeopathic medicines which may be prescribed on the basis of symptoms. Homoeopathy is useful in the treatment of symptoms after the diagnosis of hay fever, allergies to skin; gut and respiratory system have been identified.

Please refer to https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov(2007) on how homoeopathic remedies are at par with conventional medicines in the treatment of respiratory allergies.

Watch this space as I speak about how you can keep the homoeopathic respiratory medicines in a kit and use it for yourself and near and dear ones at the time of crisis, in my next blog.

Meanwhile start on your homoeopathic preventatives for allergies and hay fever now.

Rheumatism and Homoeopathy

Rheumatism

Homoeopathy is a powerful tool for the treatment of joint and muscle pain.

Dani came to me with difficulty in holding things with her left wrist .The pain she complained of was unbearable. She would frequently drop things. Cooking and basic house hold chores became a nightmare.

What do tenosynovitis, wrist drop, tennis elbow, sciatica, trigger finger and many such conditions have in common?

Most of these conditions present with pain, swelling, stiffness and difficulty in movement and limiting your daily activities.

Tenosynovitis is a frequent accompaniment of acute arthritis and involves the inflammation of tendon sheaths and synovium.

Tennis elbow occurs when there are partial tears of the origin of the muscles at the elbow.

These conditions could be caused due to trauma, degeneration and inflammation.

Homoeopathic medicines are effective in the treatment of nerve and muscle pain. Repeated and daily use of homoeopathy medicines orally can treat the signs and symptoms of pain and swelling. Some cases may take 1-2 months depending on the nature and onset of symptoms. However, chronic cases require cases longer treatment.

The outcome was that Dani found the pain reducing with homoeopathy and the swelling reduced over 4- 6 weeks. She was back to her normal activities and felt happier.

I have had good results with homoeopathy in treating such conditions.

Homoeopathy supports Pre and Post-Surgical Cases

Calendula

Recently, I treated a few cases with post-surgical hemorrhoids and fissures after child birth with homoeopathy. After a few follow-up consultations the cases healed.

Here are some of the cases from my experiences that benefit from homoeopathy prior to and after surgery:

  • Pain after teeth extraction
  • Nerve pain after injuries
  • Infected stitches
  • Post-operative fever
  • Anxiety before undergoing surgery
  • Post-surgical shocks
  • Post-surgical orthopedic fractures for wound healing and calcification
  • Hemorrhoids and fissures after surgery

Calendula and Hypericum are a couple of good remedies used in wound dressings and can be taken orally with the use of antibiotics.

A good idea would be to also get a homoeopathic first aid kit from a qualified Homoeopath.

Homoeopathic Treatment of Respiratory Diseases

Respiratory Diseases

There is a method to the madness of the treatment of respiratory diseases with homoeopathy!

Homoeopaths treat the patient symptomatically. There are a number of different homoeopathic remedies to choose from while treating respiratory diseases such as flu, sinusitis, tonsillitis and asthma.

Some of our remedies cover the upper respiratory tract, others the lower and few more are common to both. Right from the stage of causation, to runny nose, sore throat, sinusitis to chest congestion and wheezing, homoeopathic medicines can treat pain and give relief.

The key is to start early and nip it in the bud. If you cannot find time to book an appointment with a homoeopath or general-practitioner, a good option would be to get flu, cold and cough kits from a qualified Homoeopath.

The Wonders of Homoeopathy

Some people who take homeopathic medicine get well with one dose and some take longer. The wonders of homoeopathy, regardless, never fail to amaze me.

Patients who return for follow-up years later tell me that that the one dose of homoeopathic medicine I gave them worked well. I have seen this in cases of benign cysts, corns, chalazions, moles, renal calculi, skin complaints and many more complaints.

In his book, J.T. Kent mentions that homeopaths prescribe for the patient (1986). A corneal opacity, for example, is a result of disease; it is not a symptom. Initially the patient’s symptoms subside and are followed by disappearance of the pathological conditions. The patient feels better as a result.

Kent also suggests that it takes time for nature to replace diseased tissue with healthy tissue to restore an organ. Consequently, one dose of the same homoeopathic medicine may not be enough and further repetition is needed.

Recently I had a patient who was glad that he could stop taking Nexium, since homoeopathy had taken care of his acidity. He was amazed and appreciative of   how the homoeopathic remedy worked, and decided that one must have faith in it.

Homoeopathy is a pure, unprejudiced form of natural therapy that treats the individual and allows the body to naturally heal itself and the symptoms of disease. Once the symptoms are taken care off, the diagnosis takes care of itself.

Homoeopathy IS plausible

Joanne Greenland President, AHA Vic/Tas

T h e H o m e o p a t h y Research Institute’s International Research Conference held in Rome the first weekend of June this year was i n s p i r i n g a n d empowering. I went along with several agendas, but to come away with the realisation that homoeopathy is plausible was not one of them. I had actually expected the conference to be partly informative and mostly boring and had planned to disappear most afternoons into the Roman sunshine to shop, swim and sightsee – not to sit hanging on the edge of my seat hearing scientists tell me that homoeopathy works.

After many years in the industry I thought I knew homoeopathy was a credible form of medicine but I now realise that years of criticism in the media had taken their toll. Despite a full-time practice, I had become disheartened by the current crisis homoeopathy finds itself in, the constant media attention declaring homoeopathy to be nothing more than placebo, bogus or worse dangerous to the health of our patients.

To hear the speakers at this conference suggesting the plausibility of homoeopathy determined from high standard research was nothing short of brilliant and I could not get enough of it.

Some of the tantalizing talks were: Dr. Alexander Tournier presented his research in physicochemical investigations of homoeopathic potencies. It is a literature review of methods researched and their results to date. It made a pleasant change to be shown homoeopathic research with a positive outcome.

The work of Professor Robert Mathie pinpoints the current RCT’s that meet scientific standards in the present definition of a scientific study. It is true that there are not many that fit within the modern day science guidelines due to its incompatibility with the requirements asked for – but there are some that do and still show homoeopathy to be plausible.

Dr. Christian Endler laid out the repeatability of fundamental research proving that homoeopathy is repeatable and reproducible, giving further evidence in the laboratory that homoeopathy is credible.

Dr. Debora Olioso’s research showed definitive changes from the effects of Arnica Montana on gene expression of human macrophages. In a test tube Arnica makes changes to the immune response.

Dr. Gustavo Aguilar-Velazque investigates and evaluates the cytotoxic and apoptotic effects of several homoeopathic dilutions of Echinacea angusifolia on human breast, cervical and prostate cancer cells, repeatedly noting effect.

Most excitingly – Prof Dr. Steven Cartwright explained how Solvatochromic dyes detect the presence of homoeopathic potencies in high dilutions. That is to say he can do experiments using dyes that show the presence of high dilutions of homoeopathic remedies in water.

It is no longer a satisfactory argument to say homoeopathy works because my patients get better – but is a good response to criticism to say homoeopathy is plausible because Steven Cartwright can detect the presence of high potencies using dyes in a science laboratory. We lose credibility when we become passionate or emotional about homoeopathy in debate but it is also a good counterargument to know there are valid RTC’s in homoeopathic research despite the outcry that there are none.

This beautifully run event with over 250 participants was exciting and heartening. The venue was good, the catering delicious, the city exotic, and the fact that the program ran like clockwork with talk after talk every 10-20 minutes was a credit to the organisers. If you are considering going in 2017 I strongly recommend it – I will be there.

Homoeopathic First aid and Travel kit and its importance in everyday life

I have patients contacting me before travelling, asking for homoeopathic medicines that could help them and their children feel better in emergency situations. They make homoeopathy feel special.

You are most welcome dear parents and patients.

Nothing beats having a homoeopathic first aid and travel kit for families and children, packed-full with creams, Arnica, Ledum, Hypericum and many more homoeopathic first aid remedies.

“Homoeopathy for the First-Aider” by Dorothy Shepherd is a good reference book in this context.

My advice is to own the kits and administer the remedies as per my instructions in each of them.

I have had positive feed-back on the efficiency of these kits. They are useful for daily use in minor injuries, burns, scalds, fever, stomach upset and insect bites and many more.

Better safe than sorry!

Educating both sceptics and users of homoeopathy is crucial to making Homoeopathy work. Giving the right medicine in its correct dose, with the right potency and frequency are the keys to homoeopathic remedy. It takes cooperation between both the patient and the practitioner, therefore, to provide curative treatment.

Through several years of homoeopathic practice both in India and Australia, I am grateful to all my patients who had faith in my practice and helped me cultivate my knowledge of homoeopathy.

I believe that homoeopathy is its own subset of specialization, largely due to the distinguishing nature of the cases that I treat. Consequently, it becomes a challenge. The majority of skin cases such as psoriasis, eczema, acne, and lichen planus are palliated with steroids and creams. This approach actually escalates the problem, however, making it difficult to treat. Instead, homeopathic remedy opts to identify the root cause of the skin problem itself, and then plan curative options. This makes homeopathy one of the best treatments for skin conditions. Since homoeopathy is a form of medical treatment, a common mistake by patients is the liberal use of homeopathic remedies. The treatment should only, however, be taken during the course of the illness and till symptoms persist.

There has been an increasing controversy about the effectiveness of homoeopathy amongst sceptics that has really left me disappointed.

Clinical research and daily practice indicate that homoeopathic medicines do have a positive impact in both minor and major cases. Saha SK, Roy S, Khuda-Bukhsh AR. et al. in the Journal of Integrative Medicine, for instance, recently collaborated to confirm that certain homeopathic remedies derived from plant extracts in high dilutions alter the methylation and gene expressions of certain genes in carcinogenesis. There have been a lot of articles proving the efficacy of homoeopathy in altering cancer gene expressions.

Stay tuned for more.
